Summer Fun in Pocatello

Summer is almost officially here, have you started planning how to spend it? Pocatello, Idaho has a lot to offer for summer activities and we are excited to share with you some ideas! Take a Dive Swimming is such a fun thing to do in the summer, Pocatello has a lot of options for taking the kids for a swim. Ross Park Aquatic Complex has a children’s play area with lily pads, a lazy river, and a zero-depth play area for smaller children. There is also a water slide for the older kids and adults. The pool opens each day at noon and season passes are available. Ross Park Aquatic Complex is located at 2901 South 2nd Ave. Bannock Reservoir at the Wellness Complex is a man-made lake free to use all summer long. There are no lifeguards on duty but there are a lot of shallow areas for the kids to play safely. Chubbuck Road and Olympus Drive is where you will find this beautiful lake for summer swims. Stuart Park Splash Pad is a great option if you do not want to worry about deep water. This free splash pad is great for the little kiddos and is located at 5177 Stuart Ave. Going Up? If rock climbing is something you are interested in but are not quite sure how to get started, the Parks and Recreation Department offers classes for adults and children. Idaho State University has climbing equipment available on Thursday evenings and if you have your own equipment you can climb any time. The Lava Cliffs at Ross Park are the perfect height for bouldering or a quick climb. Shady Side offers plenty of shade from huge trees on the trail and is located off of 4th Ave. Walking, Hiking, or Bike Riding The trails around Pocatello range in difficulty with some taking you up a mountain and others going through neighborhoods.
